Celebrating More Than 40 Years of Hearing Care in Indianapolis

Since opening our doors in 1983, Professional Hearing Services has remained committed to providing personalized hearing care that helps people stay connected to the moments and relationships that matter most.

Over the past four decades, hearing healthcare has changed dramatically. Technology has advanced, treatment options have expanded, and patient expectations have evolved. Through it all, one thing has remained the same — our commitment to delivering expert, individualized care to every patient who walks through our doors.

Professional Hearing Services was founded by audiologist Patricia Nordstrom sharing office space with renowned otolaryngologist Dr. William Fechtman in 1983, when audiology was still a relatively young profession. Together, they established one of the country’s early independent audiology practices, creating a place where patients could receive specialized hearing care in a private practice setting.

When Dr. Fechtman retired in 2000, Patricia relocated the practice to the building next door, continuing to serve the Indianapolis community with the same patient-focused approach that had guided her practice from the beginning.

In 2004, Patricia sold Professional Hearing Services to her longtime friend colleague, fellow audiologist Dr. Suzanne O’Connor. After serving as President of the Indiana Academy of Audiology and working in a variety of clinical settings, including subcontracting in Patricia’s practice, Professional Hearing Services, Dr. O’Connor used her years of experience to narrow her focus to expanding this practice from a part-time office to a full-time operation.

As the practice continued to grow, so did the team. Dr. Amanda Rosinko joined Professional Hearing Services in 2015 as a fourth-year doctoral student, followed by Dr. Olivia Patterson in 2024, already having worked in a professional setting. Each doctor initially shadowed Dr. O’Connor for months, until she was sure they would seamlessly provide her patients the exceptional care that was the hallmark of Professional Hearing Services. Together, they continue to provide the personalized, relationship-based care that has defined the practice for more than 40 years.

During that time, audiology has experienced tremendous advancements. Professional Hearing Services has embraced those changes, from transitioning to digital records to incorporating the latest hearing aid technology and diagnostic equipment, while maintaining a focus on what matters most: helping patients hear and communicate more confidently in their everyday lives.

Today, Professional Hearing Services is proud to be Indianapolis’ first and longest-established independent practice owned and operated by a doctor of audiology.

While technology continues to evolve, our philosophy remains the same. We believe every patient deserves the time to ask questions, understand their options, and receive recommendations based on their individual hearing needs and lifestyle.

Looking back, we’re proud of how far the practice has come. More importantly, we’re grateful for the patients who have trusted us over the years and for the opportunity to continue serving the Indianapolis community for many years to come.
